The Gift of a Story
Stepping into the Kadıköy Municipality Sensory Integration Center felt different than I expected. It wasn't just a building; it was a place designed with care for senses other than sight. Knowing I was there to record audio books gave my purpose a deeper meaning.
In the recording booth, I wasn't just reading words from a page. I was trying to paint pictures with my voice, to convey emotions through tone and pace, hoping to create a vivid world for those who would listen. I thought about the people who would hear these stories perhaps a student studying, a child enjoying an adventure, or someone finding comfort in a narrative. It was a profound responsibility and an incredible privilege.
The feeling of knowing that my voice is now a small part of the Center's library is hard to describe. It's a mix of immense pride, deep humility, and genuine joy. It’s more than volunteer work; it feels like I've helped build a tiny bridge to a world of stories that everyone deserves to experience, regardless of how they see the world.
This experience at the Sensory Integration Center taught me that true service is about empathy. It's about understanding a different reality and using your own abilities to make someone else's life richer and more connected. I am so grateful to have contributed to this beautiful mission.
